The research was conducted in Homa Bay County, Ndhiwa Sub- County where 11 schools were sampled for the research and over 131 interviews conducted. The interviewees comprised of policy makers, School manager’s/Head teachers, teachers, Parents and Pupils. The East African Centre for Human Rights (also known as EACHRights), is a non-partisan, regional Non Governmental Organisation that seeks to promote, protect and enhance human rights in East Africa with an emphasis on economic, Social and cultural rights among the vulnerable and marginalised groups.
EACHRights was founded in May 2010 and registered as a Trust in Kenya in November of the same year. The organization was established to undertake human rights work within a regional context. Its creation followed consultations with academics and human rights practitioners from United Kingdom, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Ethiopia. These consultations revealed a lacuna with regard to economic, social and cultural rights Kenya, and within the East African region.

Training Of Lawyers And The Judiciary On Litigating Economic And Social Rights In Kenya
EACHRights Held a training of lawyers, state counsels, and judiciary on litigaging and/or adjudicating economic and social rights on the 10th to 11th of July 2014 at Eka Hotel Nairobi. The theme of the training was Enhancing the capacity and understanding of lawyers and the Judiciary on how to adjudicate and/or litigate on economic and social rights.
